Project Overview
The Rapid City Area MPO is evaluating the potential for expanding transit in the region. Residents expressed support for expanded transit service in past planning efforts. This study will build upon the previous planning efforts and determine whether transit expansion is feasible, and if so, what type of expansion will meet the needs of the region.
The study includes a collaborative public engagement strategy involving residents across the region, stakeholders, elected officials, as well as state and federal oversight. The study will evaluate existing and future needs, consider alternatives to meet the identified needs and assess funding gaps and opportunities. The study will guide any future transit investment in the region.
The study was initiated in March of this year and is anticipated to be completed in late 2017.
