General Statement of Duties

Under the direct supervision of the Treasurer, is responsible for performing general clerical and fiscal work with the receiving and recording of the County funds.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Enter data into computer software programs. 

  2. Perform daily receipting and accounting/balancing functions for all County funds.

  3. Perform Department of Motor Vehicles business: process titles and licenses on all new and used motor vehicles, motorcycles, trailers, snowmobile, boats, ATV’S and commercial vehicles.

  4. Process real estate tax statements and collections. 

  5. Read, understand, research and verify real estate legal descriptions and tax histories.  

  6. Maintain and update files within the Treasurer’s Office.

  7. Daily customer service with public at workstation and via telephone. 

  8. Perform additional duties as required, performing all duties in a manner consistent with safe practices and policies.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  1. High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certification. 

  2. One (1) year experience with secretarial functions preferred. Extensive knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.

  3. Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws pertaining to the functions of the Treasurer’s Office preferred.

  4. Knowledge of  bookkeeping and filing procedures.  

  5. Ability to make mathematical computations.

  6. Ability to demonstrate good communication and organizational skills.

  7. Ability to maintain a professional relationship with the general public and other employees.

Physical Demands:

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.

  2. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear.

  3. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

  4. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:  

  1. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
